Students participating in this 2 day hands-on course will further enhance their knowledge of
Extraction, Transformation, and Loading of data with Oracle Warehouse Builder. Many diverse cases and uses of Warehouse Builder will be explored. This course covers 2 additional final days beyond the scope of the material offered in the Introduction course. More advanced topics including creating cubes with OLAP technology within OWB, defining a MOLAP (multidimensional) model, debugging OWB mappings, OWB experts, pluggable mappings, OMB scripting, and more.
Course Goals
Explain how OWB fits into the lifecycle of a typical project, and highlight the areas for opportunity.
Attain a working knowledge of Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) and how it facilitates loading data warehouses & marts
Obtain foundational hands-on experience in OWB through rigorous lab exercises
Understand the resulting PL/SQL scripts created from OWB, how to use them and how to troubleshoot them
Provide opportunities for students to utilize some more advanced features in class.
Mentor students on the finer points of development with OWB.
Prerequisites
Previous experience with the Oracle Database is required.
Previous experience with basic SQL syntax is required.
Previous experience with Oracle PL/SQL is not required, but very helpful.
Previous experience with other ETL tools or Data Warehousing is not required, but helpful.
Previous experience with Oracle Warehouse Builder or enrollment in the course Introduction to Oracle Warehouse Builder 10gR2 is not required, but very helpful.
