Course Overview

Oracle Application Express (ApEx) provides students with a solid understanding of Oracle's latest rapid application development environment. The presentation style is a series of concise lessons, with each lesson preparing students to apply the knowledge gained in a challenging exercise based on a real-world situation. Topics begin with an overview of the APEX development environment, its genesis, capabilities and applications. Instruction continues with an overview of each of the environments major areas; Application Builder, SQL Workshop and Utilities. The course will then continue with an in depth exploration of the development environment including data importing, application wizards, element wizards, session management, page rendering and processing, application shared components, application elements, computations, validations processes, branching and security implementation. The course also looks at application themes and templates and how they control the look and feel of the application independent of the application logic. All of these will be brought together through a series of exercises that result in a working application.

Course Goals

To build an understanding of the Oracle APEX development environment and its capabilities
To provide students with the skills necessary to take full advantage of the Oracle APEX rapid application develop environment to produce real world applications.
To obtain hands-on experience through exercises in an instructor-led environment, promoting interactive learning.

Prerequisites

This course assumes a good working knowledge of PL/SQL
A very basic understanding of Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) is useful
