Every leader, manager, team leader and technology leader needs to effectively
communicate information. How well you convey information to others can determine
the success of a project, the relationship that you have with those around you
and it can even determine your salary and how high you rise in the company. This
presentation focuses on how to build and give winning presentations. It shows
the keys to successful presentations along with Rich's top tips for giving
presentations.
This presentation looks at Oracle moving at the block level. We take a look
at how blocks move from disk to memory, how they become Current blocks, how they
become Consistent Read (CR) versions and other interesting tidbits of
information that only keep you from achieving the business goals of the company.
In addition, we look at some of the cool x$ tables out there that you should
stay away from including many that begin with x$ksm (like x$ksmsp - kernel
storage memory SGA heap) and what they'll reveal to you; as well as
looking at why the move toward 64-bit technology, memory resident databases and
RAC/Grid makes this even more important to understand.
Many database application failures result from design errors. These errors
limit the performance and functionality of the application, ultimately limiting
the business process the application is supposed to service. This presentation
provides a review of database application failures and a list of design
principles that would have avoided the failures.
This is a beginner level presentation on developer tuning, and is focused on
developers who are relatively new to Oracle. It provides some basic tuning tips
and techniques that you can use to tune your code. After a brief look at how
Oracle works and where a query fits into the process, we look at how to find the
problem queries in your system, various indexes that can be built, and things to
watch out for with certain indexes. We also review how to use explain plan and
Autotrace. Lastly, we look at using hints to tune queries and joining tables.
Many people think of content management as icons on a web page that users can
click to download an Excel file. The features Oracle provides in OracleAS 10gR2
to manage content give administrators incredible amounts of flexibility and
security. This presentation shows the advanced features of Oracle's Content
Management and shows that, with the right planning, Content Administrators can
deploy a dynamic content management system with virtually no written code
whatsoever.
As of Oracle Database 10g, you can use the regular expression functions to
perform very complex searches. This presentation will show the formats for the
functions along with examples of searches. Examples include case-insensitive
searches and searches for classes of characters (such as all numbers, or all
uppercase letters). As a bonus, case-insensitive search options that do not use
the regular expressions will also be shown.
As the new database versions roll out, so do exciting new features. This
presentation discusses the new Oracle 10g, Oracle9i and Oracle8i features that
enhance the developer's ability to develop mission critical Web-based
applications. Using the new features add reliability, stability, speed and
flexibility to any application.
Oracle Application Server embraces almost all of the major development
frameworks available today. Oracle continues to add enhancements to its
Application Server and keeping up with these new changes can be a challenge. The
presentation delineates the additional functionality Oracle has incorporated
into the Application Server and will discuss Oracle's focus on SOA.
This presentation covers the new PL/SQL related features specific to
Oracle10g release 1 and release 2. The new features covered include the
following: new conditional compilation, new PL/SQL commands (regular
expressions), new and enhanced Oracle supplied packages (dbms_output, dbms_ddl
wrap procedure, dbms_warning, dbms_stats), new functions, new enhanced SQL
commands (flashback table, etc.), etc. Each of the features covered will include
example code to enforce the new features capabilities and usefulness.
RAC Customer Panel
No presentation available, live panel discussion - A panel of Oracle
customers sharing their experiences with RAC/Grid. We'll start with a brief
introduction by each panel member on the systems that they run and some of the
experiences that they've had with RAC and Grid. We'll then open up the
discussion to the audience so that you can ask them your questions so that you
can learn from some the customers that have "been there done that." Don't miss
this rare opportunity to see some of the industry leaders share their lessons
for success.
This presentation covers how to spatially enable your data and include it in
your BI dashboards. It shows the Oracle Locator and Geocoder and how to
transform address information to latitude and longitude numbers. Using the
database data, we show how to create store territories based on real customer
data. Now that the territories have been made we can display the information
utilizing Oracle Mapviewer to visualize the data. Lastly, we will turn the map
created in Oracle Mapviewer and add it to a Portal BI Dashboard.
This presentation shows the top ten tips when tuning your architecture for
grid computing. Oracle has come a long way from when they first introduced
clustering. The tools continue to improve and the installation continues to get
better and easier.
The OracleAS Portal wizards are extremely powerful, but there many reasons
for needing greater control of your portlets than the OracleAS Portal wizards
can give you. Oracle JDeveloper gives you total control over your Portlet
development. This presentation focuses on the ease with which developers can
develop and deploy portlets in the latest versions of JDeveloper and the Oracle
Application Server.
