World-Renowned Oracle Expert Kevin Loney Joins TUSC

CHICAGO (Feb. 22, 2001) -- TUSC, "The Oracle Experts," has announced a second major appointment in the past week with the hiring of world-renowned Oracle database administrator Kevin M. Loney.

Loney will be responsible for improving TUSC's Remote DBA service architecture.

Loney, 36, assumes the title of senior technical management consultant. He joins TUSC along with Dan Rabinowitz, who was earlier introduced as the company's chief financial officer. The two additions further accentuate TUSC's plans to expand the company and fall in line with its aggressive growth strategy for 2001 and beyond.

Loney is considered a master when it comes to Oracle database administration, security, performance and architecture reviews/planning. Much of that knowledge is compiled in the four books he wrote for Oracle Press and Osborne/McGraw-Hill: "Oracle8i DBA Handbook," "Oracle8i: The Complete Reference," "Oracle8 Advanced Tuning & Administration" and "Oracle SQL & PL/SQL Annotated Archives." The books, which have sold more than 700,000 copies combined, are now available in eight different languages. Loney also is a regular contributor to Oracle Magazine.

"Kevin has always been one of the best of the best when it comes to Oracle database administration," said TUSC Chief Executive Officer Richard J. Niemiec, himself a master DBA. "He also fits the TUSC mold for high character and a dedication to sharing the knowledge. With Kevin joining TUSC's Remote DBA service, TUSC continues to set the standard as the strongest Oracle database team in the world."

Loney joins TUSC at a time when the world-famous Oracle consulting company is enjoying its greatest growth. The firm's employee base expanded 57 percent in 2000 -- including the opening of an office in Milwaukee -- and revenues from TUSC's 24 x 7 Remote Database Administration service increased 172 percent during the same year. The trend is expected to continue in 2001 in both areas, including expansion into the Atlanta marketplace. TUSC is based in the Chicago area and also has regional offices in Denver and Detroit.

Loney previously provided Oracle consulting to clients in the utilities, financial and services industries. He falls nicely in line with TUSC's philosophy of "making a difference in the communities it serves" as he often shares his tips and techniques at venues like Oracle OpenWorld, European Oracle Users Group and International Oracle Users Group-A Live!

Loney's previous experience includes roles as enterprise database administrator and year 2000 program coordinator for Astra Pharmaceuticals, senior DBA and manager -- research systems for Centocor Inc. and software engineer for Kaman Corp.

Loney holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and also has done postgraduate work at Penn State.

"I am looking forward to developing innovative Oracle database management solutions with TUSC's technical experts and management team," Loney said.
