Building a Flexible UI with APEX (3.72MB) Presented at: Los Angeles Oracle Users Group (LAOUG) Date: 11/05/2009 Abstract: Brad will discuss how he built a GUI and GIS application with ApEx for Independent Nation. Independent Nation is a company that specializes in provide intelligence on independent voters to political campaigns. The application is used to provide that intelligence. Merging voter registration, voter contribution and numerous other data sources, Brad built an application that is dynamic and flexible. The application can easily be used for any other GIS-type applications. It's built on data about people, their properties or addresses they live at, and other information about them. This case study will demonstrate Brad's approach to designing and developing applications that allow customization by changing data, not code.

Many companies today are attaching SOA MBOs to their technical teams. These performance metrics often measure based on quantity rather than quality. What is quality? Reuse? Performance? Flexibility? Brad will discuss this topic in detail. Brad will also discuss building an open API that provides dynamic services and provides a powerful service architecture for any business.

Cool Apex Integration with AJAX, YUI, Google Maps, and more. (5.65MB) Presented at: Utah Oracle Users Group (UTOUG) Date: 03/14/2008 Abstract: Years ago I used to discuss performing asynchronous activities with the hidden JavaScript page. With the improvements to JavaScript and our use of XML, Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) provides functionality we've been using for years, but it's much easier to implement now. This presentation will cover AJAX in a variety of forms. Oracle Application Express (Apex) provides a little known secret called the "On Demand" feature...which allows for AJAX calls back to the database. Google and other companies provide AJAX functionality that you can use for application integration. In this presentation you'll learn how to write your own AJAX server side code and how to make use of existing server side AJAX code. This presentation will also discuss and demonstrate how you can take a series of latitudes and longitudes and turn them into a visual map containing your data using AJAX.
